As Spotify releases list of most streamed in the 2000s, timeless hit songs ‘Gongo Aso’ from Afrobeats maestro 9ice, ‘Olufunmi’ by super group Styl Plus, and ‘Fall In Love’ by Afrobeats legend D’banj all appear in the top.

Spotify released two playlists in October highlighting the best deep cuts and evergreen favorites from 2000s and 2010s Afrobeats.

They feature music that inspired today’s Afrobeats savants and is still widely enjoyed by fans.

Nigeria’s Economic Situation Worsens

The World Bank has said Nigeria is in a worsening situation, with economic performance becoming weaker as inflation persists. The Washington-based bank said this in its newly released Nigeria Development Update, which was launched in Abuja. The financial institution also cut Nigeria’s 2022 growth forecast to 3.1 per cent from a previous forecast of 3.8 per cent.
