The Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Operations, Dandaura Mustapha, has warned governors against stopping opposition political parties from holding campaigns in their state.

Mustapha, who gave the warning at the 2022 political parties summit held in Abuja, revealed that the police had received several complains on attacks on political parties in states during campaigns.

He noted that state commissioners of police had been directed to ensure that all political parties were given free space to campaign in states.

The DIG, however, added that some governors deserved commendations for demonstrating political tolerance.
