Iran beat Wales with goals from Rouzbeh Cheshmi and Ramin as Wayne Hennessey was sent off following a violent tackle on Mehdi Taremi.
Wales’s goalkeeper, Hennessey became the first player to be sent off in the Qatar tournament for clattering into Taremi late in the game.
Iran, who would have been eliminated with a defeat, instead climbed to second in Group B behind England, against whom they had lost 6-2 in their opening game.
Reports say popular gospel singer, Sammie Okposo, is dead. Okposo’s project manager, Hillary Vincent, who confirmed the news, said the singer died on Friday morning. Vincent, however, declined further comments on the singer’s demise as he did not disclose the cause of the death.
