NUJ Tasks Journalists to Protect Nigeria’s Democracy

The Nigeria Union of Journalists has called on media practitioners in Nigeria to always prioritize reports that will promote and protect the nation’s democracy as the country prepares for the 2023 general elections.

President of the union Chris Isiguzo gave the admonition in an address to declare open a two-day capacity building workshop organized by the Centre for Democracy and Development for journalists and civil society organizations held in Lagos State.

According to him, deliberate efforts must be made by the media practitioners toward publishing reports that will bring about resolution and building a peaceful society.

He appealed to practitioners to maintain the highest possible standards in the course of discharging their duties for the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
