Security Agencies to Protect INEC Facilities

The Independent National Electoral Commission said that the Department of State Services and the Nigerian Army will henceforth provide additional security for the facilities nationwide.

National Commissioner and Chairman, Security Committee of INEC, Modibbo Alkali disclosed this in a statement during of Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security, ICCES, in Abuja.

The statement noted that the Security agencies will also upscale intelligence gathering, sharing and utilization of the same to stem further sabotage.

It appealed to Nigerians to continue to support INEC and the security agencies to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for the 2023 General Election.
