Nigeria Medical Association Decries brain drain

The Nigeria Medical Association has revealed that Nigeria has about 24, 000 active licensed physicians caring for over 200 million population.

NMA President, Ojinmah Uche, who said this in during a policy dialogue on Nigeria’s health sector, noted that it is as a result of brain drain in the country.

Uche stated that a private sector-driven healthcare system with government support and enabling environment will over time stop and may even initiate brain gain.
