Court Adjourns Suit Filed Against Buhari by PDP

A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the hearing of a suit filed against President Muhammadu Buhari, by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, challenging the Presidential order to the National Assembly to delete section 84 of the Electoral Act 2022.

Delivering Judgment, the presiding Judge, Inyang Ekwo fixed January 19 2023, following information made available to the court that a related suit on the same Electoral Act is pending at the Supreme Court.

Justice Ekwo held that in the circumstances it is better for the Federal High Court to thread softly and await the report of the Supreme Court’s decision on the electoral act.

Federal Government Commence Review of Land Use Act

The Federal Government has commenced a process to review the Land Use Act. Director, Lands and Housing of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Godwin Ityoachimin, disclosed this at the 27th conference of Directors of Lands in the Federal and State ministries. Ityoachimin stated that it is necessary to commence the process due to numerous frictions between state and federal governments on land administration.
