Truss Wins Race to Become UK’s Prime Minister

Britain’s Former Foreign Secretary, Liz Truss has been named as the country’s next Prime Minister.

This comes at a time when the country faces a cost-of-living crisis, industrial unrest and a recession.

Boris Johnson was forced to announce his resignation in July after months of scandal and he will travel to Scotland to meet Queen Elizabeth on Tuesday to tender his resignation.

Johnson’s successor will follow him and will be asked to form a government.

Kano Government Increases Health Sector Budget

Kano State government has said it will increase the Ministry of Health’s 2023 budgetary allocation to tackle Monkey pox and other emerging deadly diseases in the State. State Commissioner for Health, Aminu Tsanyawa, disclosed this during the State’s Annual Operational Planning for Health Sector. Tsanyawa noted that between 2014 till date, the state government has increased the Health Sector budgetary allocation from six percent to 17 percent.
