Germany Signs Deal to Repatriate Benin Bronzes to Nigeria

Germany has signed an agreement to transfer ownership to Nigeria of the Benin Bronzes looted in the 19th century.

According to reports, the signing was done on Thursday between the Foundation of Prussian Cultural Heritage and Nigeria’s National Commission for Museums and Monuments.

Recall that the British Soldiers took hundreds of bronzes when they invaded the Kingdom of Benin in 1897.
