IGP Orders Nationwide Security Beef-up

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba has assured Nigerians of efforts to improve public safety and security across the country during and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

This was disclosed in a statement by the police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, on Thursday and made available to newsmen.

According to the statement, the move was to prevent any unplesant situation across the country throughout the festive season and beyond.

It also directed Commissioners of Police, supervisory Assistant Inspectors General of Police and Tactical Commanders in all the states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, to beef up security ahead of the celebration.

Correctional Service Heightens Security at Lagos Prisons

The Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, has beefed up security in Lagos State Prisons following the Kuje jailbreak. NCoS Lagos Spokesperson, Rotimi Oladokun confirmed the reinforcement of security on the facilities on Thursday. Oladokun disclosed that the Service Personnel have been placed on high alert. He added that the Prison authority is working with other Security Agencies to forestall any breach.
