The Nigeria Correctional Service has said embattled Police Officer, Abba Kyari and other VIPs held in the facility did not escape during Tuesday’s attack on its facility in Kuje prison.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the Chief Superintendent of Corrections, Umar Abubakar, disclosed that Kyari and others were unhurt in the assault.
The statement revealed that 879 inmates escaped from the Prison following the attack by suspected Boko Haram Terrorists.
It added that 443 of the escapees have been recaptured.
President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed disappointment with the intelligence system at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje in Abuja. Buhari stated this on Wednesday while speaking to newsmen during his visit to the correctional facility which came under attack by terrorists.
