Buhari Restates Commitment to Credible 2023 Polls

President Muhammadu Buhari has restated his administration’s commitment towards conducting free, fair and credible elections.

Buhari gave the assurance during a meeting with representatives of Nigerians living in Portugal.

The President added that his government will give the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the free hand to conduct the exercise.

Akwa Ibom Judge Pardons Inmates

Akwa Ibom State Chief Judge, Ekaete Obot has granted amnesty to six inmates of Ikot Abasi Correctional Centre. According to Justice Obot, the inmates were freed because they have spent more years in prison than the penalty for the offense they were charged with. The Chief Judge added that the freed inmates, who were diagnosed with cardiac failures, were granted pardon on compassionate grounds.
