Federal Government Moves to End ASUU Strike

The Federal Government has commenced the payment of minimum wage arrears which it owed Lecturers under the aegis of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics and Academic Staff Union of Universities as part of efforts to end the ongoing strikes by the Unions.

The National President of ASUP, Anderson Ezeibe, and the Chairman, ASUU FUTMinna, Gbolahan Bolarin, confirmed this to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.

Recalled that both Unions are currently on strike following the inability of the government to meet their demands.

Buhari Signs National Health Authority Bill into law

President Muhammadu Buhari has signed into law the National Health Insurance Authority Bill 2022. This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Presidential Aide, Garba Shehu, on Thursday. According to the statement, the bill repeals the National Health Insurance Scheme Act, Cap N42, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004”. It added that a Fund would be set up to ensure coverage of 83 million poor Nigerians.
