Atiku calls for an end to ASUU’s strike

A Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has called on Federal government to return to the negotiation table with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

Atiku made the call while commemorating with workers on the occasion of International Workers Day, on Sunday.

He warned that the educational system in the country is dying due to lingering strike action.

The former vice president advised workers at all levels to adopt a new approach to dispute resolution, by pursuing labor-friendly policies which will guarantee improved national productivity.

Death toll from collapsed building in Lagos rises

The death toll recorded in the building collapse in the Ebute Metta Area of Lagos State has increased. Acting State Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed this in a statement on Monday. The statement revealed that additional two male bodies were recovered bringing the number of deaths to eight. Recall that a three-storey building caved in late Sunday in Lagos State.
