Edo suspends local council election

Edo State Independent Electoral Commission, EDSIEC, has suspended the conduct of local council election scheduled for April 19, 2022.
According to a statement signed by Emmanuel Abebe, on behalf of EDSIEC chairman, the suspension of the election was due to the restraining order by the Federal High Court, Abuja, on the commission.
The statement disclosed that all processes leading to the conduct of the elections had been suspended, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

Amaechi announces presidential ambition

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared his ambition to run for president come 2023. Amaechi declared his interest at a thanksgiving service organized by the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC. He had severally denied being interested in the race before his official declaration. The Minister becomes the sixth APC aspirant to officially declare his intention to contest.
