Nick Kyrgios has been given the biggest fine of the US Open for his behavior in his quarter-final defeat by Karen Khachanov. Kyrgios was fined $14,000 after throwing a drinks bottle to the ground and then smashing two racquets at the end of the match. The total of his fines in New York for offences including spitting and swearing was $32,500.

Frances Tiafoe reached a maiden Grand Slam semi-final by beating Andrey Rublev in straight sets at the US Open. Tiafoe beat Rublev 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-0) 6-4 in New York. He will play Spain's Carlos Alcaraz or Italian Jannik Sinner in the last four.  

Nick Kyrgios is out of the US Open after he was out-battled by Russia's Karen Khachanov in a quarter-final in New York. Kyrgios, who needed treatment on his left thigh after the first set, lost 7-5 4-6 7-5 6-7 (3-7) 6-4 to 27th seed Khachanov. Khachanov, plays Norwegian fifth seed Casper Ruud, who beat 13th seed Matteo Berrettini 6-1 6-4 7-6 (7-4).

Chelsea has sacked their Manager, Thomas Tuchel, following their UEFA Champions League group stage 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb. Chelsea announced this in a statement issued in its website on Wednesday. The statement added that the Blues’ Coaching Staff would temporarily take charge of the first team.

Manchester City began their quest to win the Champions League this season with a 4-0 victory against Sevilla. Real Madrid also beat Celtic 3-0. Paris Saint-Germain survived a second-half fight from Juventus to win 2-1. Chelsea suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at Dinamo Zagreb in the early kick-off of the Match.

Danish Super Liga Club, FC Copenhagen has announced that forward, Akinkunmi Amoo will miss the rest of the season due to injury. Recall that Amoo suffered a knee injury during training and will spend eight to nine months on the sidelines after undergoing surgery.

Iga Swiatek beat unseeded Jule Niemeier to reach her first quarter-final in New York. Swiatek fought back to win 2-6 6-4 6-1 against the German. She has been the standout WTA player this season and is bidding for a seventh title in 2022. The reigning French Open champion will play American Jessica Pegula, who beat Czech 21st seed Petra Kvitova.

England right-back Reece James has signed a new contract with Chelsea that will run till 2028. James was already under contract until 2025, a deal he signed in January 2020. He made his first-team debut for the Blues in September 2019 and has made 128 appearances, helping them win the Champions League in 2021.

Coco Gauff reached her maiden US Open quarter-final with a straight-set victory over China's Zhang Shuai. Gauff, competing at her home Grand Slam, won 7-5 7-5. The American 12th seed, who is yet to drop a set at Flushing Meadows this year, will play France's 17th seed Caroline Garcia in the next round.
