Motorcycle riders in Imo state popularly known as Okada riders have reacted to the plan to enforce motorcycle registration by the State Internal Revenue Service, IIRS and the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC. An okada rider in Amakohia axis of the state, John Okolie, says motorcycle riders should be permitted to ply around town. For Aliyu Bala, the enforcement of registration is a welcome development.

Ogun State Government has threatened to sanction pharmaceutical operators in the state over the activities of illegal operators. The Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Health, Kayode Oladehinde, expressed concern over the growing operations of illegal pharmacy and patent medicine stores. Oladehinde noted that the state’s pharmaceutical inspectors had been empowered to deal with individuals engaging in the unauthorized selling of prescription drugs.

Some youths in Imo state have raised alarm over incessant harassment by police officers in the state. Speaking with Boss Radio Correspondent, Emmanuel Okechi, narrates his experience. Another youth, Nelson Ikeagwu, alleges that some police officers’ harassment young men on the road. Meanwhile, all efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer proved abortive.

Anambra State government has set up a family court to handle matters relating to domestic violence. The State Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Ify Obinabo revealed that the state had recently recorded five deaths occasioned by domestic violence. Obinabo noted that the court already has 10 pending cases, with nine suspects remanded. The Commissioner added that the state government has zero- tolerance for domestic violence.

Indigenes of Amuzu Nweafor Autonomous Community in AbohMbaise Local Government Area of Imo State have raised alarm over the infrastructural deficit in the community.
