Electricity Supply Records Marginal Drop

Electricity supply in Nigeria recorded a marginal drop on Wednesday to 76,375.48MWh. According to the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, this is 0.6% lower than the 76,851.08MWh recorded the previous day. The decline in energy supply is on the back of a similar 0.6% decline in energy generation on Wednesday to 77,416.19MWh from 77,917.94MWh recorded on Tuesday.

Foreign investment in Agricultural Sector drops by 99%

Capital importation into Nigeria’s agriculture sector fell by 99.23 per cent from $237.83m in the fourth quarter of 2021 to $1.76m in the first quarter of 2022. This was contained in the Nigerian Capital Importation report for Q1 2022 released by the National Bureau of Statistics. The report revealed that there was a 99.23 per cent decline within three months.

Nigeria’s Public Debt Climbs by N2.04tn in Q1of 2022

The Debt Management Office, DMO, has said Nigeria’s total public debt stock increased to N41.60trillion in the first quarter of 2022 from N39.56trillion as of December 2021. According to DMO, this shows an increase of N2.04trillion within a period of three months. It added that the public debt stock covers the total domestic and external debt of the Federal Government and state governments and the Federal Capital Territory.

The price of cooking gas recorded an increase in the month of June 2022 compared to May 2022. Crude oil exports hit N5.6trillion in three months

Nigeria’s crude oil exports jumped to N5.6trillion in the first quarter of 2022. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria’s total merchandise trade stood at N13 trillion in the first quarter of 2022, indicating an increase of 11.05 per cent over the value recorded in the fourth quarter of 2021 and 65.41 per cent higher when compared to the value recorded in the first quarter of 2021.

Nigeria’s Weapon Import Falls to N4.9 billion in Q1 2022

Nigeria imported arms and ammunition worth N4.89 billion in the first quarter of 2022. According to reports, this represents an 86.8% decrease when compared to the N37.09 billion spent in the corresponding period of the previous year. The N4.89 billion recorded in Q1 2022 also represents a 47.5% decrease compared to N9.32 billion spent in the previous quarter.
