The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Olamilekan Adegbite , has revealed that the Federal Government will not be able to deliver on its promise to revive the Ajaokuta steel before 2023.

Adegbite stated this during the 34th session of the State House briefing held in Abuja.

He noted that the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war were major unplanned events that scuttled the project’s revitalization.

In 2020, the Minister had said the Ajaokuta Steel was 90 percent complete and may be functional by early 2023.

10 members of Brazilian president’s cabinet resign

Ten members of Brazilian President’s cabinet have resigned from their positions. The move is designed to boost Jair Bolsonaro’s re-election prospects ahead of the general election. The officials are expected to campaign for office in advance of the vote in October, as well as campaign for Bolsonaro. The shake-up is an important step towards the anticipated election, which is expected to pit the President against his political rival, Luiz da Silva.
