CAS describes maritime crimes as threat to Nigeria

The Chief of Naval Staff, Auwal Gambo has described maritime crimes as a serious threat to the wellbeing of Nigeria.

Gambo made this known at the opening of the 2021 Chief of Naval Staff Annual Conference held at Government House in Kano State today.

He disclosed that the scourge of maritime illegalities such as sea robbery, piracy, crude oil theft, human and illicit trafficking of weapons and drugs, among others, constitute serious challenges to the economic development of Nigeria and Africa at large.

In his remarks, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje noted that Nigerian maritime is endowed with numerous resources that can contribute tremendously to the prosperity of the country if carefully explored and managed.
