Anambra Govt to begin payment of new minimum wage from October.

The Anambra State Government has announced plans to begin payment of new minimum wage of N70,000 starting from October 2024.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Thursday, made this known during a meeting with principals and head teachers of public primary and secondary schools at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center in Awka.

The governor also revealed that the free education policy would extend to senior students in all public schools across the state, beginning next week.

He reassured that despite resource constraints, the administration remains committed to fulfilling its mandate.

Meanwhile, the Accountant-General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa has confirmed that workers will start receiving alerts of their new salary payments from Thursday [today].

However, he did not state whether the payments will include arrears since July, 2024 when the minimum wage bill was signed into law.
