Abia State Branch of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, today embarked on indefinite strike.

A communiqué jointly issued by NMA’s Chairman, Abali Isaiah, and Secretary, Daniel Ekeleme, revealed that the Association took the decision after meeting on Wednesday.

The communiqué lamented that doctors working at the State University Teaching Hospital and the Health Management Board are being owed between 21 to 25 months and 13 months’ salary arrears respectively.

It accused the state government of not showing any serious commitment to the course.
