The National Assembly has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency on the floods that have ravaged parts of Bayelsa state.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by members representing the State at the Assembly, Seriake Dickson, Biobarakumo Degi-Eremienyo, Moses Cleopas, Messrs Agbedi, Preye Oseke, Frederick Obua, Israel Sunny-Goli and Steve Azaiki.
The statement noted that the state caucus was fully abreast with the perilous times confronting Bayelsans, as occasioned by floods that have sacked homes and entire communities.
This comes as the House of Representatives’ Committee on Ecological Fund has commenced an investigation on how beneficiaries of the Ecological Fund have utilized funds released to them in the wake of floods.
