NUT Urges State Governors to Pay Salary Arrears

The Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, has called on state governors that owe teachers salary arrears to pay off.

Secretary-General of the Union, Mike Ike-Ene, made the call in an interview with newsmen in Abuja, to mark this years World Teacher’s Day.

Ike-Ene revealed that state governors owe primary school teachers and secondary schools months of salary arrears.

The Secretary, however, commended state governors who had been committed to paying teachers’ salaries as and when due.

World Teachers Day is celebrated on October 5 every year to appreciate teachers.
