The thriller Emancipation, starring the winner of last year’s Oscar best actor, Will Smith, will be released later this year.

Reports say it will be open in cinemas on 2 December and will be available to stream from a week later, making it eligible for next year’s Oscars.

Smith resigned from the Academy and has since apologized to comedian Chris Rock, who had made a joke about his wife.
