Blood Service Commission Issues Directive to Hospitals

The National Blood Service Commission, NBSC, has directed all hospitals and health facilities involved in blood transfusion, to register with the commission within 30 days or face sanctions.

Director General of the Commission, Omale Amedu, gave the directive at a press briefing on the implementation of the blood service regulatory policies.

Amedu revealed that less than one per cent of health facilities involved in the blood business are registered with the commission.

The Director General stressed that no blood should be transfused in Nigeria without the NBSC seal or accreditation.
