Williams, lost 6-4 6-0 in what is set to be the penultimate event of her career.

German director Wolfgang Petersen has died aged 81. A spokeswoman confirmed Petersen died of pancreatic cancer in Los Angeles. He directed stars such as Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt, over a career spanning five decades.
