Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has accused the leadership of Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, of failing to defend the rule of law.
Wike made the accusation while speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
He urged the NBA to go beyond issuing statements to taking concrete actions against attacks on the nation’s judiciary.
The Governor expressed dissatisfaction over the Association’s approach to social change, adding that it is more of a disservice to the nation.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris over alleged N80 billion fraud. This was disclosed in a statement issued by EFCC Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren on Monday. The statement revealed that Idris was arrested after failing to honor the Commission’s invitations to respond to issues connected to the fraudulent act.
