Nigeria draw with Benin; seal AFCON spot

The Super Eagles secured a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Felix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium on Thursday in Abidjan.

The result keeps Augustine Eguavoen’s team unbeaten in the qualifiers, despite conceding their first goal in the campaign.

Team captain William Troost-Ekong expressed satisfaction with the outcome, noting that qualifying for AFCON 2025 was their main goal as he added that the team was a bit unlucky on Benin’s goal, with Victor Osimhen caught out of position at the crucial moment.

While the Super Eagles are set for the upcoming tournament, looking to build on this strong qualifying performance.
