The Federal government has dismissed the reports on social media suggesting that the Ministry of Petroleum has ordered NNPCL to sell fuel at N1000, above the approved pump price.

In a statement on Tuesday, signed by Nnemaka Okafor, Special Adviser to the Minister of State for Petroleum, made available to newsmen, the federal government dismissed the report, noting that it was concocted and ill-conceived to sow discord and confusion in the oil industry.

According to Nnemaka, the Federal Government has never interfered with petroleum pricing decisions made by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), nor has it issued any directives for price increases.

Consequently, reports alleging that Minister of Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri instructed the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to price fuel at 1,000 naira have been characterized as misleading and false.
