Nigeria Intensifies Surveillance As Mpox Cases Hit 39

NCDC Director General Jide Idris shared this information during a press briefing on Thursday, where he also highlighted the declaration of mpox as a public health emergency of international concern.
Idris announced that the NCDC is ramping up surveillance efforts nationwide to quickly identify and address any new cases.
All port health services at Nigeria’s five international airports, ten seaports, and 51 land and foot crossing borders are on high alert.
Additionally, several states including Lagos, Enugu, Kano, Rivers, Cross-River, Akwa-Ibom, Adamawa, Taraba, and the Federal Capital Territory are under heightened vigilance.
