Residents of Umuanunu Community Obinze, in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, have called on the state government to come to their rescue, following incessant attacks from kidnappers and armed robbers suspected to be Fulani men.
The Youth Leader of the community Reagan Obioma, in a “Save Our Soul” message on Tuesday, lamented over the spate of bloody attacks on residents of the community, as he called for the immediate deployment of men of the Nigerian Army and Police to the area to restore serenity.
Obioma expressed fear that the hoodlums which operate from the forest reserves of Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), may sack the entire Umuanunu community if the government fails to take action.
A victim of the robbery attack which took place last night about 2 am, revealed that the heavily armed men who fluently spoke hausa language, invaded their compound, manhandled occupants, leaving some with matchet cuts, after which they carted away with their cash and valuables.
