A non governmental organization, the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG) has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the resurgence and abduction of citizens for ransom by criminals operating across the country.
In a statement issued in Abuja and signed by its National Coordinator, Ibrahim Abdullahi, MMWG called for an immediate crackdown on the criminals.
Reacting to the recent incident in Abuja, where a whole family was abducted, the group maintained that it is mind-boggling that the eldest daughter of the family – a 400-level student of a Nigerian university, Nabeeha was killed over the weekend, leaving the balance of five victims in terrible danger of extermination by the kidnappers.
They noted that the ongoing trend poses significant dangers not only to the families of the victims but also to the entire Nigerian populace and the nation’s economic development.
They stressed that it is long overdue to put a halt to this menace.
