Man Buries Newborn Baby Alive in Anambra State

A middle-aged man Ifeanyi Ezenwankwo from the Nanka village in the Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, is being held by police after reportedly inflicting body injuries on his wife Ekwutosi and burying a newborn child in a shallow grave.

This was disclosed in a press statement issued to journalists by Chidinmma Ikeanyionwu, the Media Aide to the Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo on Thursday.

According to reports, Ezenwankwo buried the infant to hide his unlawful behavior with a 16-year-old girl who later became pregnant and bore the child for him.

His wife, Ekwutosi, said she was inflicted with the injuries as she raised an alarm when she came back home and saw her husband burying the newborn baby.

The statement added that the culprit has been arrested and is currently in police custody while investigations are ongoing.
