Russia to Recruit Criminals

The Russian army has been given the approval by the lower house of parliament to recruit suspected and convicted criminals to fight Ukraine after it voted on Wednesday.

According to Reuters, the vote gave backing to legislation that will allow the Defence Ministry to sign contracts with criminals to join army personnel.

The new changes being examined by the Duma do not cover recruitment of people already serving their sentences and the Defence Ministry has not commented.
