Senegal’s president Macky Sall has refuted claims that it would be unconstitutional for him to seek a third mandate.
The constitution in Senegal states that no-one can serve more than two consecutive terms which the opposition says prevents Sall from running in next year’s election.
Critics of the President, accuse his government of using the courts to sideline the opposition politician, Ousmane Sonko.
Sonko is currently facing two court cases that could threaten his eligibility for the election.
Reports say a fire incident occurred at the White House section of the Onitsha Market, Anambra State. Confirming the incident, state police spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the situation is being monitored and firefighters and police are there.
