Fire Guts Onitsha Market

Reports say a fire incident occurred at the White House section of the Onitsha Market, Anambra State.

Confirming the incident, state police spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the situation is being monitored and firefighters and police are there.

The section, popularly called “Gbongboro”, serves as a warehouse and also where lace and other clothing materials are being sold.

No one could ascertain the actual cause of the fire, but the inferno, which started in the early hours on Tuesday, has destroyed multi-million naira worth of goods.
