Group Calls for Removal of Imo INEC REC

A civil society group, Better Community Life Initiative, BECOLIN, has expressed dissatisfaction over the outcome of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

In a press briefing, the groups Program Director, Chibundu Uchegbu, alleged that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Yakubu Mahmood, failed to keep to his promise of conducting a free, fair and credible elections.

Uchegbu claimed that elections conducted in 14 local government areas in Imo state was filled with violence and malpractices.

The Director called for the removal of the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Sylvia Agu and the arrest and prosecution of all INEC staff including the ad-hoc staff who were involved in electoral malpractices on 25th February, 2023.
