Namibian President Names Presidential Candidate

Namibia’s President Hage Geingob has named Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as his party’s Presidential candidate in next year’s elections.

Geingob, who called on party members to support Nandi-Ndaitwah when official campaigns begin next year, urged them not to create factions from the outcome of the party nominations.

She is the party’s vice-president and the country’s current deputy prime minister.

The President is due to step down next year after serving two terms. He was first elected in November 2014.

Reports say cashless transactions fell to N37.67tn in February 2023. The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System revealed that this was a 4.83 per cent fall from the N39.58tn that was recorded in January. The data noted that e-payment gateways were used 901.46 million times, a 41.29 per cent increase from the 638 million times they were used in January.
