Lassa Fever Claims 85 Lives in 2023

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has revealed that Lassa fever killed at least 85 persons in the first six weeks of 2023.

According to NCDC’s weekly epidemiological report, fatality rate was at 16.0 per cent which was lower than the Rate for the same period in 2022

It stated that in week six of this year, the number of new confirmed cases decreased from 106 cases recorded in week five of 2023 to 68 cases.

It added that of the 74 per cent confirmed cases, Ondo led the table with 36 per cent reported case, while Edo State recorded 31 per cent, and Bauchi state had seven per cent.
