INEC Promises to Tackle Vote Buying

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has vowed to tackle the practice of vote-buying at polling units

INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, made the vow at a stakeholders’ forum organized by the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room in Abuja.

Yakubu noted that the commission was concluding safeguards for a transparent process in the collection of PVCs.

The Chairman added that the commission will publish a summary of the guidelines on finances and election expenses for parties and candidates.

APC Chairman Kicks Against Use of BVAS

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has claimed that Nigeria is not yet ready for the deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS and the Results Viewing Portal. National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Adamu, made the claim while speaking to a delegation from the Commonwealth Election Observation Mission. Adamu alleged that the country does not have the telecommunication infrastructure required to use the system.
