Chad Announces Death Toll from Protests

Chad’s military government has revealed that 50 people have been killed and more than 300 others wounded in a day of protest.

Newly appointed Prime-Minister Saleh Kebzabo said some of the protesters were armed.

Kebzabo stated that among those killed were members of the security forces.

The government has announced a curfew in the capital and two other towns affected by the protests.

Power Minister to Sanction Members

The Minister of State for Power, Godwin Jeddy-Agba has revealed that union members will face sanctions for shutting down national grid. Jedy-Agba disclosed this when he appeared before the House of Representatives Committee investigating frequent shutdown of the national electricity grid. The committee revealed that it would submit a report by next week.
