Court Acquits Former Plateau Governor

A state High Court sitting in Jos, Plateau State capital, has discharged and acquitted a former governor of the state, Jonah Jang, over corruption charges leveled against him.

Delivering judgment, the presiding Judge, Christy Dabup, also discharged and acquitted a former cashier in the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Yusuf Pam.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had accused Jang of corruption to the tune of N6.3 billion.

The former governor had in March 2021 appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to pardon an ex-Governor of the state, Joshua Dariye; and former Taraba State Governor, Jolly Nyame.
