UN Urges Federal Government to Increase Education Budget

The United Nations, has urged the Federal Government to increase its current budgetary allocation to the education sector.

United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mathias Schmale, gave the advice at the official launch of the Reports of Independent Evaluation of Sustainable Development Goals, in Abuja.

Schmale urged the government to increase education budget from seven to 20 per cent in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal4.

He noted that the reports indicate Nigeria’s determination to establish robust institutional monitoring and support frameworks at national and sub-national levels.
