NLC Issues Ultimatum to Police in Rivers

Rivers state chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Nigeria Police Force to vacate the state secretariat of the union.

NLC issued the ultimatum in a communiqué signed by its state secretary, Mathew Olabe.

The communiqué accused the state government of victimization of its members through the issuance of Administrative Queries.

It threatened to resume its suspended Industrial action if the state government fails to implement the report of the tripartite committee which has lasted for over one year.

Court Nullifies Ebonyi Local Government Election

A Federal High Court, sitting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, has nullified the recently conducted local government area election. In his ruling, the presiding judge, Rilman Fatun, ruled that the local government election, which held on July 30, 2022, contradicted the provisions of the 2022 Electoral Act. Justice Fatun, stated that the election was undemocratic, unlawful, and shrouded in secrecy.
