Ugwuanyi Commends Federal Government Over Empowerment of Farmers

Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has commended the Federal Government over the empowerment of rice farmers in the State.

State Commissioner for Agriculture, Matthew Idu, who gave the commendation on Tuesday in Enugu, the State Capital said the initiative became a reality through the State Governor’s efforts.

According to Idu, at least 439 rice farmers in the State were empowered with seedlings, fertilizers and agrochemicals to boost their yield this farming season.

The Commissioner added that the initiative is in a bid to curb food scarcity.

Okorocha Remains in Custody Pending Fulfillment of Bail Conditions

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has said that former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, is still under the custody of the Agency. The Agency’s Public Relations Officer, Wilson Uwujaren, made this known during an interview with newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja. According to Uwujaren, Rochas will be released after meeting his bail conditions as ordered by the Court.
