CBN loans to farmers hit N1tn amid rising default rate

The total amount disbursed under the Anchor Borrowers Programme of the Central Bank of Nigeria rose to N1.01trillionn as of the end of April.

According to CBN’s reports from its Monetary Policy Committee, between January and February 2022, the Bank disbursed N29.67billion under the Programme for the procurement of inputs and cultivation of maize, rice, and wheat.

It added that between April and May 2022, the Bank released the sum of N57.91billion to 185,972 new projects for the cultivation of rice, wheat, and maize, bringing the cumulative disbursement under the programme to N1.01trillion.

Plane with 22 passengers on board missing in Nepal

A small plane with 22 people on board flying on a popular tourist route is declared missing in Nepal. This was disclosed by the Tara Air Spokesman, Sudarshan Bartaula on Sunday. According to Bartaula, the flight lost contact with the airport tower shortly after takeoff. Meanwhile, the Home Affairs Ministry’s Spokesman, Phanindra Pokharel, disclosed that two helicopters were deployed for a search operation but added that visibility was low.
