Finland announces bid to join NATO

The Finnish government has officially announced its intention to join NATO.

The announcement was made on Sunday by the Finnish President, Sauli Niinisto at a joint press conference with Prime Minister, Sanna Marin.

According to reports, Finland’s Parliament will convene on Monday to debate the membership proposal.
