Sri Lanka swears-in new Prime Minister

Sri Lanka has sworn-in Ranil Wickremesinghe as its Prime Minister for the sixth time.

Wickremesinghe was sworn in by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa during a ceremony at the President’s House on Thursday.

The new Prime Minister’s appointment came days after the brother of the President, Mahinda Rajapaksa, vacated the position amid riots triggered by his supporters.
