The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it would not extend the deadline for the conduct of primaries.

Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mike Igini revealed that an extension would contravene the timetable and schedule of activities for the general elections earlier released.

Igini maintained that the commission had given ample time to parties to conduct their primaries based on the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2023 elections.

Recall that the chairman of IPAC, Yabagi Sani, had appealed to INEC, to extend deadline for conduct of primary elections.
